Clocks
Clocks, clocks and more clocks, the whole room was full of clocks. There were big and small clocks, ones that were free standing, others were on the wall and some on tables. There were some shaped like animals and some had scenes painted on them. There were also those that looked like cuckoo clocks except none were making sounds. Except for ticking.
Why should there be a room with so many clocks? Then I looked at all the clocks closely. All the hands were missing, I was confused why have all these clock faces but no hands? Still I could hear the ticking, tick, tock, tick tock.
Each second was passing but nothing was there to indicate the time. It was something I wanted to know who would have clocks with no hands.
Tentatively I reached out my hand to open on, to look at the workings. Inside I could see all the cogs, wheels and mechanics, but still no hands. The lack of hands had to mean something.
I seemed to be in a place where time didn’t mean anything, or it wasn’t important. Then I thought of a story I was told many years ago. About someone to whom time didn’t matter. Someone who made a promise of everlasting life.
I finally understood time didn’t matter because we would live eternally.
